5 Anti-cholesterol Foods

Cholesterol is a necessary substance for the human body, but it represents a danger for the cardiovascular system if it is present in high levels. Apples

Apples are rich in fibers, flavonoids and antioxidants. They stimulate the liver to reduce the level of cholesterol in the bloodstream and prevent illnesses such as atherosclerosis. Prescription: two organic apples (with their skins) or one glass of apple juice (without preservatives or added sugars) every day.

Nuts

Nuts are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, which are known to reduce the risk of cerebral vascular accidents and heart attacks by moderating the level of cholesterol in the bloodstream. Prescription: one handful of natural nuts (eaten alone or included in meals) every day.

Garlic

Garlic is the medicinal plant with a thousand and one virtues. It contains alliin, which is a mild vasodilator. It helps to control and reduce cholesterol levels in the body, in addition to assuring good heart conditions. Prescription: a minimum of 3 cloves (raw or cooked) every day.

Oat

This cereal is rich in beta-glucan, which is a soluble fiber that can reduce cholesterol levels in the bloodstream, as well as the risk of coronary diseases. Prescription: consume this cereal regularly and keep your diet low in cholesterol and saturated fats.

Soy

Soy is rich in vegetable proteins that can reduce high levels of lipids in the bloodstream. Increase the amount of soy in your diet in order to considerably reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood. Prescription: 20g at the very least, to be consumed throughout the day.
